Medical diagnostics specialist Cozart was established in 1993 by Dr Chris Hand, a biochemist, and his IT executive brother Philip. The company produces kits that can rapidly identify drug abuse via saliva, urine or other samples.
In 2001, the company needed funding to expand its range of testing devices. Cozart's DDS system is now the fastest and most reliable drug testing instrument on the market and is able to identify five drugs simultaneously. Cozart is the sole supplier for the UK Home Office's drug intervention programme.
With YFM Group guidance, Cozart floated on AIM in July 2004 with a valuation of circa £27 million.
